Cycling around Tharu Village

Cycling around Tharu Village is a must to do activity while staying in community. It is home to lush, green landscape that includes vast mustard fields, forests and rivers. Cycling around in this picturesque setting and stunning views is very refreshing. It is also an opportunity to witness stunning views of the countryside, local culture, and wildlife. The surrounding environment is so peaceful that cycling around Tharu village will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Sundowner

Apart from the beautiful landscapes and culture, Terai is also famous for its astonishing sunset view. Indulge in the beauty of the sunset over the Narayan river with a cup of tea. It is a fantastic way to create an unforgettable memory as you experience the beauty of mother nature and what it has cast upon us.

Jeep Safari

Jungle Safari is a must-do activity during your stay at Tharu Community Lodge. Experience the natural beauty of Chitwan National Park with a guided tour in a full-fledged safari Jeep. As you explore the lush jungle and wetlands, you’ll have the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife in their natural habitats, including the Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian elephant, and one-horned rhinoceros, as well as deer, monkeys, and birds. With the guidance of our experienced naturalist guide, you’ll have the chance to learn about the animals and their habitats. Canoe Ride

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to experience the natural beauty and wildlife of Chitwan National Park with a boat safari or canoe ride on the Narayan River. As you navigate the river, you may see herds of deer, sunbathing gharials, and a variety of aquatic birds. With luck, you may even spot a RIVER DOLPHIN. Bird Watching Tour

Being the home to 848 species of birds, Bird watching in Tharu Community is a delightful experience for nature lovers and bird enthusiasts. Our community lodge is situated in close proximity to Chitwan National Park, making it the perfect spot for it. Some of the commonly spotted birds in the area include the Indian Pitta, Bengal Florican, Grey-crowned Prinia, and Sarus Crane. Our experienced naturalists will accompany you on a birding excursion to help you identify and spot various bird species in their natural habitats.

When we think of Tharu village, the first thing that come to mind is its vibrant culture, dances, and serene landscapes. The beauty of the village is further enhanced by the curious eyes and friendly smiles of the locals, who are always eager to greet visitors and share their culture. As you walk through the village, you will notice traditional Tharu houses made of mud walls and thatched roofs. Sometimes, the aroma of freshly cooked local cuisine swirls through the air, inviting you to experience the Tharu way of life and their traditional occupations, as well as their conservation efforts.

To satisfy the curiosity, we have created a Tharu Cooking Class, which offers an opportunity to learn the techniques for making the most popular Tharu dishes and gain insight into their traditional way of life.

Dev Chuli HIke

Have you ever heard of hiking in the flatlands of Terai Region? At Tharu Community lodge we offer a couple of hours’ hike to Devchuli hill (1,936 meters). It is a sacred place for Tharu people of plains and Magar people of hills. From the top of Devchuli hill, one can witness the calming sunrise in the east, the himalayan range in the north and panoramic views of beautiful flat landscapes.

Art and Architecture Practice

The Terai region, home to the Tharu Community, has been able to preserve its unique art and architecture passing through the generations. To illustrate and promote their traditional crafts, we offer Tharu art sessions where participants can participate in the activity and learn about the community’s rich historical background

An expert naturalist will provide valuable information during the presentation. This is an excellent opportunity for wildlife enthusiasts and explorers to broaden their knowledge.

Dress like local is great way to involve oneself in a new culture and show respect to the local customs and traditions.
Being an ethnic group, the Tharu have a particular form of dressing that reflects our traditions, cultures, and way of life. Accessorize with vibrant clothing and finish the look with distinctive Tharu jewelry. Embracing Tharu fashion is a way to appreciate and respecting their culture. 

Agricultural/farming Activities Seasonal Basis

Tharu Community is known for traditional agricultural practices which are mainly based on seasonal cultivation. Depending on the season you come, there are numerous farming activities you can take part in. This activity provides a profound understanding of the significance of agriculture in the Tharu people’s daily lives. Guests can interact outside of their comfort zone by eating lunch with locals. Apart from learning the agriculture techniques, one can experience the rural way of life.
